At Sullivan & Griffith, LLP, we work closely with other professional advisors, including Certified Financial Planner™ Practitioners, investment advisors, financial consultants, insurance professionals, Certified Public Accountants, and tax advisors as part of the estate planning team. We believe the team approach provides our mutual clients with the most comprehensive, realistic and effective estate plan.
Our approach is to provide our clients with a detailed questionnaire. We ask our clients to fill out this questionnaire and bring it with them to their first meeting. This not only facilitates a more productive meeting, but helps our clients focus on the issues and decisions they must make in order to develop the most effective plan to meet their goals.
At the first meeting, we focus on the clients' stated goals and recommend strategies for implementing an effective estate plan. This meeting usually lasts about an hour and a half, and at the conclusion of that meeting, we typically will have agreed upon set of estate planning documents appropriate to their needs. A fee quote will be provided at that time, and will be confirmed in writing in an engagement letter following the meeting.
At the second meeting, we review draft documents in great detail. We believe that no client should sign any document without a comprehensive understanding of its content and the ramifications thereof. To that end, we dedicate a significant amount of time to the review of documents. This allows us to explain each section of the plan, and answer any questions that have come up in the process.
A third meeting is scheduled to sign documents. This meeting typically moves very quickly because the documents have been thoroughly vetted before-hand.
Once documents are signed, we work directly with our clients, or with you, or both, to ensure that any additional work to re-title assets (if appropriate) is completed efficiently and effectively.
Every professional organization has different processes, and different methods for interacting with clients. We are happy to work within your processes, or blend our respective methodologies.
